2022 Du Grappin 'Lardons' Beaujolais Villages, France Val di Toro Under the Maître de ChaiFrom a late ripening, high elevation parcel in Fleurie Ponci, its harvested a full week later than most of Fleurie which brings excellent phenolic balance (and as Andrew puts it, the joyousness) to the wine. Full carbonic maceration in concrete tank combined with the extra hang time comes together for a remarkably layered, complex bottle of classic Beaujolais. Lardons is a cheeky nod to the soil here, a unique pink granite with streaks of white quartz
